Stories about money.Feelings first.
For the big feelings behind the little words: “I want it now.”
Nathan is the author of Ava Saves Up! and founder of Pocket Money Adventures. His stories for children aged 4–7 begin with characters, curiosity and choices, not a lecture.
A picture book to share. A conversation to keep going.
A LITTLE ROOM TO THINK
Small moments.
Big conversations.
The stories leave space for a grown-up and a child to talk. Open a familiar moment below for one way to begin.
“But I want it now.”A question before a decision
Start with curiosity: “What do you like about it?”
Then try the words together: Tap. Tap. Pause. There is room to want something without deciding straight away.
“Everyone else has one.”Making room for the feeling
Ask: “Would you still want it if nobody else had one?”
In Ava Saves Up!, Zion's new trainers catch Ava's eye. A story gives you someone else's choice to talk about first.
“I got it wrong.”A next step, not a label
Try: “What could you do differently next time?”
Ava does not get everything right. The conversation can be about what happens next, rather than getting every answer right today.
Conversation starters, not tests. No answers are submitted or stored.

ABOUT NATHAN
Start before
the maths.
A financial planner's subject.
A storyteller's way in.
Nathan is a financial planner by trade and a children's author by choice. Pocket Money Adventures brings those two worlds together through the fictional city of Silverton.
There, a pair of trainers can feel like the most important thing in the world. A race, a robot and a very tempting shop window make room for conversations about wanting, waiting, fairness and money.
The aim is not a perfect answer on every page. It is a story children want to return to, with something for the grown-up beside them to talk about.
Nathan lives in Staffordshire. His first Pocket Money Adventures book is Ava Saves Up!
